Meal Planning Board

Life, Love and Puppy Prints

I'm linking up with Carolyn for Hello Spring:Spring DIY
Even thought its snowing sideways and there is no sun in sight, here's to hoping spring is just around the corner!

How many times have you just grabbed take out for dinner because you didnt think you had something at home? Or you forgot to take it out of freezer?
I do it at least 3 times a week.
It was driving me crazy!

So I made a board.
It was SUPER easy.
All I did was take an 11 x 14 frame, grab some paper & chipboard letters

Section off your paper how you would like it....then decide "wish" doesnt classify for the kitchen/grocery lists...then decide on "buy"...duh heather.

Glue the letter's down and some ribbon/twine to separate the areas, and put it back in the frame.
I should mention I chose not to paint the chipboard bc I was going for more of a natural look...you ladies know what I'm talking about who doesnt love burlap?!

Bam. Ten minutes, thats all it took!
I love it, I keep track of meals we have everything for, snacks we have on hand, and then things we are out of and need to buy.

Nursing School Basket!

So my little sister started nursing school last week, and I wanted to do something special.
I couldn't figure out just WHAT I wanted to do, I thought about buying her a stethoscope, but then she bought her own...so that idea was out. I decided on making a basket with a bunch of things she would probably need for school, clinical etc!
The Contents included:
1. Dried Mango Fruits- To keep you healthy & fight that "2 o clock feeling"
2. Sour Patch Kids (her favorite)- To help sweeten up your sour patients!
3. Life Savors- To remind her of all the lives she will be saving
4. Keurig K Cups Chai Latte (another fav)- To get you going in the Morning
5. FIVE gum--because everyone needs to "Take 5" sometimes
6. Rubber Bands- to braid her hair and remind her to "be flexible"
7. Headbands- in case she doesn't have time to braid her hair, cuz 7 am is wayy to early!
8.Nude Nail Polish- Because it is the color of choice for nursing students everywhere!
9. Chapstick- an extra one to keep in her scrub pockets, but make sure not to wash it!
10. Notecards- to help study
11. Hole punch- to keep your notecards organized, or when you need to "punch" somebody!
12.Color Changing Pen- for charting
and lastly....
13. Cookie Dough Bites, for when your ready to cry, & want to quit; DON'T! eat some bites & relax, FOR EMERGENCY USE ONLY

Here's how it turned out and all ready to go! All I did was add some cute gift tags and ribbon to make it extra special for her. She LOVED it!

That's all for now....but look for another stair update soon, the project that is taking me FOREVER, but so far is totally worth it!

Craft Friday!

Well before Halloween comes and goes...I thought I would share some fun that i've been having!

I found the inspiration for the first project here
What you need:
Yarn
Stryofoam cones, different shapes
Glue Dots

The total cost of the project was $10, and i have more than enough yarn to make probably 5 or 6 more of these.

Its really really simple, all you have to do is wrap the string around the cone! Put a glue dot when you start and finish each color and make sure its nice and tight.

This is how they turned out, not bad for a first try?

And here is another project I recently finished, this one only cost $5!

                             Insulation tubing ($.97), Tulle ($3.97)
Cut tulle into strips and then tie around tubing, voila!

I have really been enjoying decorating our house for Halloween (we're going to be a Roman Empress and Sparticus), even thought its not my favorite holiday. Its so nice to have a place we can call "home" and knowing we dont have to move in 18 months or a year again. As much as I loved our last apartment, I'm pretty stoked to not have to start packing up again or pay rent. We're having a Halloween party tomorrow, but maybe I will do a house tour with some before and after's?
